A Rose By Any Other Name . . .

I had to go back a few days to find some fair weather shots on my camera, it has been storming for a couple days now. It is fairly amazing it can blow at a steady 30 to 40 knots, gusting to 60, for days on end; the power of the weather out here is truly humbling. I feel sorry for the boats that are still on the grounds, chasing the last of their quota.
This is what the crack of dawn looks like out here - around 9:30 or 9:45 am. Listening to the storm raging outside it's hard to remember the East Channel was ever that calm . . . .

All I can say, is WOW! Hey, for some reason when I double click on Dan's pics, they come through at a smaller pixel and fix the screen perfectly. Then when I set as background, the pictures aren't blury. Your pics are a slight blury because I have to stretch them. Just wanted you to know to see if maybe you can adjust. You know your site is my first stop every morning for the pic of the day! Thanks Steve!

Those are just gorgeous pictures. I really pray that one day I can not only witness personally the glory and splendor in all its wonders one day in person, but live their to behold them - glorious Alaska. I imagine there is nothing like her on earth!

Nice memory Steve!!!
Anyone who has not een here can not really imagine this storm we have had the past few days. Well, Maybe Lori since she lives in Florida and gets the occassional Hurricane. It really pretty much is like that except the Wind NEVER ACTUALLY STOPS. Yeah, you get huge gusts that rattle the building but even when that ends you still have a 30+mph out there. I actually worke up last night around 4am and wondered why and realized that I could not hear the wind anymore. It was not terribly windy this moring either but then around 3pm it started up again.
Which is fine by me because I sleep like a baby when it is windy and raining.
And Lori, the best thing about the storm here is it is cool and you do not have to worry about the electricity being out for a week after the storm. They built it RIGHT up here.!!!!

I too agree with Liz and hope that someday I will actually get to visit DH in person, but until then you guys are the best. You're too funny CB! Hurricanes, yes, been through one too many and being hot, humid and no electricity is down right aweful! I have seen many specials on the way "they" build things in AK and appreciated your comments about how they built it right up there! Sometimes, I think FL is at the end of the earth and I think "they" forgot how to build things here, especially the roads.

I was trying to play catch up on some of my favorite blogs and had to say that those are some gorgeous shots of the sunrise up there! I have been pretty lucky to travel most of the lower 48, but I am now more thoroughly convinced that I have got to spend some time in Alaska.

Thanks for sharing your photos and stories. The Alaska Tourism Board should pay you a stipend...lol!
