More Summer's Bay Horses

These are the horses I found earlier this week when I was following tracks. You can see this is a different group from the ones hanging out at Morris Cove and they were quite a bit more skittish. You can see in the bottom photo how far away they were, and I left them alone, life's tough enough out there without fools with cameras chasing them across the field.
Chico and I had a nice walk tonight in this same area; I'm trying to get out there as much as possible lately because soon the avalanches will close the road and it will be a few months before we can drive out there again. Goldfish and I are itching to start snowshoeing - just a bit more snow . . . .

I SOOOO wanted to get out there last night but between Work, Shopping for groceries, and having a date It just did not happen.
Speaking of Shopping the Grand's Gift Shop is really gearing up for that Midnight Madness Sale. 25% off everything so everyone on the Island really has to get out here that night. We are supposed to have 20 tables for locals set aside in the Margaret's Bay Cafe As well, So Mark December 12 on your Calandars!!!

Steve Said "Goldfish and I are itching to start snowshoeing - just a bit more snow . . . . "

You Just had to say it Huh? Now Look what happened. For those of you not on the island we had a warmer rain and and good wind storm come through last night, melting a good percentage of the snow. Heck, "The Pass" might even be open again warm as it is outside. It was muddy walking up to The Grand today for Brunch.....BUT SO WORTH IT!!!
oh, BTW Steve, the Harlequin Ducks over on this side of the island as just as Camera Shy as on yours. There is a HUGE group of them that are out in the bay on the other side of Arch Rock on my way to and from work, but they scatter the second they see my I-Phone in my hand. No Luck for me with them either. I am thinking of doing Bunker Hill today, I'll let you know how it went

BZ, that is a tough question to answer! It snows a bit, it melts, it snows, 100 mph winds blow the snow right off this rock into the ocean, it snows some more . . .you get the picture. I know it snows a lot more at the higher elevations because we get pretty good avalanching action ut y the house we don't get a whole lot of accumulation.

Brian, thanks for the tip today, it was a beautiful day for Bunker Hill but I was in class all day!

Thanks Steve. Sounds like it usually doesn't have the time to just "pile up" like it does in the Sierra Nevadas where I live.
