An Easter Grab Bag of Posts

I'm spending a lot of time out and about, so I actually have too many pictures so I need to post a grab bag and move forward.  I try to only post pictures I've taken in the last week or so . . . . Above you can see Goldfish and I were very well behaved on Easter, we just made up big salads after we walked Chico on Ballyhoo.  We saw Sherri and Eider up there as well, getting some fresh air.

The Aleutian Arts Council is having an Art Show in one of the banquet rooms at the Grand, definitely worth a look if you haven't gone already!

On Saturday, Goldfish and I celebrated our anniversary.  True to tradition, we had some of our wedding cake (Bear, it was STILL delicious!) and a bottle of champagne from the reception.  I am VERY lucky to have her in my life - all the fun with none of the drama!  I love you sweetheart . . .

This shade of green is far and away Goldfish's favorite color - she has a purse, a camera bag, luggage, clothes, the cover for her Kindle, sunglass case, cookware, you name it, all in this color.  She was pretty stoked I could match the color exactly in a batch of soap - two ounces of powdered spinach did the job nicely, no color dyes required!

And finally, this is me looking mildly peeved because the spring that was poking through just a short while ago has disappeared under a blanket of white again!  I know it won't last for long, it is in the low 40's as I type this, but still, this year's weather has been a tease!

I actually had both Saturday and Sunday off this weekend and feel wonderfully rested and recharged.  I hope everyone had a fabulous Easter!  Cheers, it's time to walk Chico and hit the hay . . . .

That IS a great green. Looks like another great batch.

Thanks for the welcome home. I couln't sleep last night, then made the mistake of being really sleepy at 8:30 so I went to bed and fell asleep. Now I am wide awake. Great time to read the blogs.

Glad you had some time off! The soap looks great--I love that green, too. How does Goldfish like her Kindle? My mom has one and raves about it...we are talking about getting one. Congrats on your anniversary--we wish you much happiness in the years to come. And you were way too good to just have salads for Easter!

Your mildly peeved picture looks like my son--most any time. LOL Love the soap--it's beautiful. However, I don't even want to think about the term "powdered spinach." Popeye just cringed. :) Randy loves his Kindle, too--but just give me the book.

Does the green soap end up having a fragrance?

Congratulations to you and Goldfish on your anniversary! The salads look awesome, but I can't quite make out all those lucious ingredients. Love your soap making hobby. I just can't imagine doing that nor finding the time to do so. I love the speckled soap - almost looks like something good to eat rather than clean with - LOL!

BZ, for that batch I used Lavendar Vanilla, Lavendar Spice, a little Juniper Berry Oil, and a little Patchouli Oil. End result is it smells good, but its hard to describe.

Lori, I get to make soap with the time I save by not watching DC! heheh :O)

Caleb - thanks so much!

Thanks Mel - that's right, you're a green fan too, huh?

Gigi, Kelly likes her Kindle - it has pros and cons, especially having it out here. Overall, I'd recommend it.

LOL! You didn't watch last night? How could you not watch? Awesome show and the shots of DH were spectacular! I paused the show to see all the places I now know. Oh, and kindle? I don't want to be left out........

Nope, don't watch it . . . A kindle is Amazon's electronic book reader, it's pretty cool.

Lovely green, Steve. As a fellow soapmaker who's trying to learn about using natural colorants, can I ask you a soapgeek-type question? How do you add the spinach powder? Do you infuse your oils with it? Add it directly at trace? Inquiring minds want to know! :)

UW, I just add the powder at light trace along with the essential oils - it blends in great and it's all natural! I do a 36 bar batch (4 oz bars) and 2 oz. of the spinach powder gives the shade you see here. Try it out!
