Winds calmed down to 25 mph today, and it turns out that is just a calm before ANOTHER storm coming in tommorow. Winds topped at 80 mph last night, high enough to send a 40 foot container tumbling down a hillside, damaging a house. You can read about that here. For tommorow they are calling for 90 mph winds so there's no telling what fun is in store. I can't wait to get out in the teeth of it and feel the fury . . .All day I thought about how I wanted to head out to Summer's Bay to beachcomb my favorite beach and see what the storm brought in right after work. I loaded Chico up in the Goldfish's Honda (the Battle Wagon is "resting") and we headed out but quickly found the first of many rockslides blocking the road - and indeed the rock was continuing to fall down as we walked along the road so we stopped our walk after 30 minutes. You can see the first couple rockslides in the pictures above . . . . there were also a few seals along the coast keeping us company as we walked.

Wow! Is this normal Dutch Harbor weather or is there some sort of crazy hurricane thing coming?
I hope everyone stays out of danger and Dorothy makes it back home to Auntie Em's alright.
I read that the rainfall was really causing alot of damage there, not to mention the wind...
Holy cow! Glad I got out of there when I could. Don't think any planes are flying there now. 90 mph winds. That's unbelievable.
Oh I see you aren't so uncomfortable driving the Honda anymore. EH?
This reminds me of our roads in Colorado. Never new what was around the bend. Good thing your a pro at driving in all weathers.
Looking forward to seeing you. I hope the pass is open when you come. They closed it for a week due to ice and snow.
